Here is a great old photo taken in a building that sadly has become the site of a new foundation. Luckily i got there before they tore it down.
Not to long ago i made a tutorial on how to Creating Black and White Images in Photoshop CS3. This tutorial though centered around JPG was will an nondestructive method and has worked well for me in the past. But there are many methods in creating black and white images. Some involve a bit more understanding of colour and manipulating the colour channels in Photoshop. The method i have been using lately is done with RAW photos in Adobe Camera Raw 4.4.1.
It seams like its almost a photo a day, or every other day. This was shot from the back side of the Alberta Legislative Building. The colour version looked great, but black the architecture pops more in the black and white.
This tutorial will show you how to create amazing black and white images using the new CS3 Black and White Adjustment Layer in Photoshop. This is relatively simple to do, and depending on what you want the final product to look like you wont need to mess around with layers and levels.
Black and white seams to capture more emotion and can give a lot to the viewer. It also helps show the subtle details that might be lost in colour photos.
I took some time at lunch today and with a little Photoshoping (removing the background and converting to Black and white) i was left with the pleasing results.

I finally got around to getting my film dropped off and i must say that i got a lot of nice shots. They were taken in Rocky Mountain House near Twin Falls, as well as Seaba Beach and some misc pictures around town.
