Raw – Black and White Conversion Process

Posted in: Tutorials on April 23rd, 2008

Not to long ago i made a tutorial on how to Creating Black and White Images in Photoshop CS3. This tutorial though centered around JPG was will an nondestructive method and has worked well for me in the past. But there are many methods in creating black and white images. Some involve a bit more understanding of colour and manipulating the colour channels in Photoshop. The method i have been using lately is done with RAW photos in Adobe Camera Raw 4.4.1.

Download the Source RAW file here.

I recently created two new Panorama images, one is a old building in Edmonton that i’m told my great grandfather used to own. the other is a sun rise from the school field in front of my place.

Check them out here.

Down Town Pano

I recently found the pleasures of the automated Panorama stitcher in Adobe CS3 , works wonders. Have a look in the gallery under Pano’s. There are a few sunsets, a huge building (turns out you can take images 2 wide 6 down and it will stitch them together as well), and my favorite. I had the chance to get on the roof the the old Alberta Federal Building so i was able to make a Pano that not many or maybe even no one has ever made.

I’m going back there some time next week and will try to make a 360.

The working file size with these images was about 600-900 mb and if they were printed would be around 5 feet by 2 feet at 240 dpi.

Ultimate Tag Warrior

Posted in: Wordpress on October 5th, 2007

wordpressUltimate Tag Warrior seams to break WordPress 2.3 so the tagcloud is more of a drizzle until its updated.

I am using the new internal WordPress Cloud at the moment and it lacks the auto generation that i like, but it seams to be doing the job.

Microsoft ‘Milan’ Surface Computer

Posted in: Technology on June 11th, 2007

Microsoft Surface Microsoft has come put with a Surface computer that has a table top interface allowing users to control objects on the screen with there hands. its a lot like the Minority Report and defiantly looks very futuristic. In the room there are infrared cameras that will recognize objects on the screen, so something like a glass will tell the computer first were it is, and maybe play an animation around it. so imagine being at the bar and you put your pint glass down and seeing advertisements floating around your drink.

The same goes with wireless devises. put a camera on the table and the pictures will flow out of it. manage the images by tossing them around rotating by hand and then if you want to move them over to your PDA then place it on the table and drag the content over and there you go, you just transfered the data without hooking them up to a computer.

Php Installer Script

Posted in: Scripts on May 7th, 2007

I made this script for people that are working on there own scripts. When i created Spoke Calculator Pro and Addressbook i soon thought it would be a good idea to include a way for the user to simply install the scripts with little know how of any sort of MySQL knowledge. I gathered the basic principle from the Word Press instillation, although they are different in coding and function.

Features:

  • Automatically Create a congig.php file.
  • Test to see if config.php exists
  • Insert MySQL automatically
