We Were Promised Jetpacks

We Were Promised Jetpacks formed in Edinburgh, in 2003. The band played their first gig at their school’s ‘battle of the bands’ competition, which they won. The four-piece eventually relocated to Glasgow:

“There was a time when we first moved to Glasgow (we grew up and went to school in Edinburgh, then three of us moved to Glasgow and one of us to Stirling) and started playing proper gigs in proper venues. Playing in Edinburgh before was weird as we were underage, so ended up playing some odd nights. Which was cool, but when we moved to Glasgow we were of drinking age and we started playing places like Sleazy’s and whatnot. We felt like a proper band.”

In September 2008, the band supported Frightened Rabbit during their tour for The Midnight Organ Fight.

The band signed to Fat Cat Records after the label listened to some MySpace friends of Frightened Rabbit.

On June 15, 2009, the band released their debut album, These Four Walls, and performed the album in full at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut

Dr. Dre Beats Tour

I have been using the same old pair of Sony monitor headphones for 7 years now, in that time I have broken both adjustment pieces. If you were to take a look you would see Super Glue and Tape, a sad attempt to keep them together. I have gone through 3 pairs of apple iPod headphones (not the best) wither the cables broke or they simple died.

I started to look at headphones and ideally wanted to avoid ear buds. Since I am a bike commuter I cannot ware monitor headphones and a helmet at the same time. So I began to look at
Shure, Bose, Sennheiser and Monster for headphones. It was not new to me that Dr Dre has a set of headphones called Beats. When I compared the price of all for brands (about $160-200cnd) I found it hard to tell what would be a good fit for me. I settled on the Monster Bears for couple of reasons. I don’t need a mic which some only came in, and I wanted a cable that would not brake or get tangled (I heard it took 10 years to develop the cables).

That said, they sound great. There noise isolation is very good and when you take them out event with the volume cranked you can barely hear them.

They sound really good on my iPod and they sound even better on my harman/kardon receiver.

Jupiter One

Jupiter One is an American indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2003. Inspired by a wide range of influences, they create upbeat indie pop songs, with a grounding in futuristic-sounding New Wave-style synth sounds. Their self-titled debut album was released by Cordless Recordings in 2007.

K Ishibashi and Zac Colwell are the founding members of the group. Other members are K’s wife Mocha, a Japanese-born keyboardist and violinist, drummer Dave Heilman, and bassist Pat “Panda” Dougherty.

The Rexall Edmonton Indy 2009

It’s that time of year again when the Rexall Edmonton Indy rolls into town. It’s easy to tell, streets are blocked off, signs go up advertising parking for $20 and you can hear the cars from miles away.

Should be some nice weather, luckily they missed last weekend’s 140 km/h winds that did a lot of damage to trees and buildings.

Bob Rifo – Kinky Malinki

The Bloody Beetroots are an Italian electronica and dance music duo. Formed in late 2006 by producer Bobby Rifo, an international indie producer, and DJ Tommy Tea. The album Cornelius was in the Top 100 International iTunes downloads. This album was a complete art project composed of music, videos, and fashion. A collaboration with french label Sixpack France was done to edit a limited tee shirt. Often compared with French band Justice, the duo wear spiderman masks while performing. The duo had a short tour of the United States in early 2008, alongside DJ Steve Aoki.[4] In 2008, the song “Butter” was included on the soundtrack for FIFA 09.

Noah And The Whale

The band consists of Charlie Fink (vocals, guitar), Doug Fink (drums), Tom Hobden (fiddle), and Urby Whale (bass), and after a few singles, released their debut album, Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down in August 2008. Laura Marling, Wendy Jane, childhood friend Hugo Barrey and Emmy The Great sang for short periods with the band and the brass accompaniment on the CD is provided by Jon Carvell (trombone) and Sam Kinrade (trumpet). They have been compared to Neutral Milk Hotel, Bonnie Prince Billy and Belle & Sebastian., and the band cite both punk rock and folk as influences.

Pinback

Pinback is an indie rock band from San Diego, California, currently signed to Touch and Go Records. The band was formed in 1998 by singers, songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Armistead Burwell Smith IV and Rob Crow. The band has two drummers that switch off and on, Chris Prescott, and Tom Zinser. Other members of Pinback past and present are: Terrin Durfey, Eric Hoversten, Ryan Bromley, Cameron Jones, Kenseth Thideau, Gabriel Voiles, MC, Dmitri Dziensuwski, Donny Van Zandt, and Thatcher Orbitachi. The band’s moniker is a reference to a character in the film Dark Star (played by Dan O’Bannon, who also co-wrote the film), directed by John Carpenter. Audio samples from this film are used frequently in the band’s early works.

PHP Frameworks – Intellisense for Aptana

This will be something that will knock your socks off!

Aptana has what is called Intellisense, this is nothing new. Many modern IDE’s have Intellisense for standard HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, and other languages like PHP, and Ruby.

Setting up a Library Location

This will be a place where you can store your various frameworks. I store the frameworks in there own folders separate from the production scripts for Three reasons. One, I can keep versions of my library’s. And Two so they are independent of the production application. And Three I can update all the Frameworks with SVN.

Call for Features

After nearly 6000 downloads of my Addressbook script, and a tone of feedback it’s time to work on version 3. There are a number of improvements and features made. Now is your chance to suggest a feature you would like to see, or voice your opinion about something that has been bugging you.

I’m not going to post a technical list of new features and changes until I reach Beta. This brings me to my next topic. If you are interested in testing the script before release please contact me for more information.
