I was startled to see some blue pixels in the upper left quarter of a bunch of images that were predominantly longer exposures anything over a second. I thought it might have been dust or something, so after some inspection and testing i found out that the blue pixels would show up even with the lens cap on, so unless i had some glowing dust in there the CCD was most likely the cause. I was glad to hear that the Canon warranty depot is only a few hours away and the store i bought it at, London Drugs would take care of everything for me. My expected turnaround should be 3-4 weeks.
So until them i am camera less.
I think every one who has taken any pictures that are blurry has thought at some point that they actually look neat. this is nothing new to me. I used to have a lot of streaks in the sky and all sorts of running around and crazy light photos. so its only fitting that i put some up.
Yesterday i bought the Canon 50mm f/1.8 II Lens i and after some consideration and comparison against the f/1.4 it became clear that the f/1.8 was mush sharper. the construction however is a plastic body so I’m not sure how long it will hold up. The price however at $109 cnd was unbeatable.
you can have a look at a full review on the lens as well as many other Canon and Sigma lenses at The Digital Picture.

This is the last of the latest update to the gallery, there are many more images to look at. This is just a skimming.

Its hard sorting and uploading photos now, i have been taking a lot more, and categorizing them is begging to become a task in its self.
last night was a full moon, and i had tried many times to take a picture of the moon with my film SLR. I never really got a pleasing shot. That was until now. It is much easier to get a good shot of the moon. I tried the Sunny f/16 rule, i don’t want to get to much into that as i didn’t have a lot of success with film or digital. If you would like to learn about it check Wikipedia.
I however learned later that its better to get a photo of the moon later at night, at least when its higher in the sky.
The first shot is some atmosphere distortion being it wasn’t to far above the horizon.
The second shot is a Half Moon but has much more detail in the craters since the sun light came from the right.

I snapped this pick while walking between offices, I thought it was neat with all the rusty staples and weathers paper.
I’m considering starting a photo a day section, so if any one knows a good word press plug in that will do the job please let me know.
It seams like its almost a photo a day, or every other day. This was shot from the back side of the Alberta Legislative Building. The colour version looked great, but black the architecture pops more in the black and white.
I took some time at lunch today and with a little Photoshoping (removing the background and converting to Black and white) i was left with the pleasing results.
I’m going to create a non-destructive black and white tutorial shortly explaining more about the work flow.
I love the morning light, especially in the fall, you don’t have to wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning (at least in northern Alberta) to get it. As part of the fall to winter cycle in Canada we are nearing the 6-7 hours of daylight for the winter season. Its not all bad though, we get amazing sun sets and sun rises. The bad would be the constant -25 or -35 on some days.
