What happened to the gallery?
Well to say it short, I have not had time to update the gallery. My new photos are all in my photo blog www.thewonderingphotographer.com But for the past week or two I have not had time to post new images there. I can assure you that as soon as I do the photo blog will be filled to the gills with new images!
You can tell spring is (hopefully) on its way when the Cedar Waxwings are out. I went for a walk at lunch and saw the swarms of these birds earing up all the frozen berry’s in the river valley. They move in great numbers like a school of fish. If you silent you can hear the great numbers flapping, chirping, berry’s falling and branches snapping. they are actually quite noisy.
Well in less than the traditional 18 month cycle from Canon they have replaced my beloved Canon 40D with the Canon 50D. Main notable improvements is the DIGIC 4 on a 15.1 MP CMOS sensor. Shooting at 6.3 FPS a tad slower than the 40D it also got a face lift.
The 3″ screen went from some 230k Pixels to just over 920k and has improved viewing in the sun that allows light to pass thoguht and bounce back making the screen legible in direct light. Alos added is Live view Face detection.
The CMOS is also more efficient with a micro lens design and notable improved noise reduction. The ISO has also been increased from 3200 to 12800.
Another Camera to save for i guess, maybe ill sell my 40D, any takers?
The Canon 5D has been a flagship camera for landscape photography, but i never considered it due to the high cost and slow shooting speeds. The new Canon 5D is not much or any faster but what it lacks in speed now is understandable since its a 21mp full frames CMOS sensor! im guessing the file size is about 20-25mb so at 3.9 fps its pushing throught close to 100mb per second. That’s a work horse.
Also added is Live View and movie recording with 1080P at 30fps with an HDMI out, max file size is 4gb but i don’t think that’s an issue. I would like to see how the focusing works (full manual, or auto).
Other than that is has been brought up to date with a new UI and better screen and some relocated buttons.
Both cameras are impressive and i look forward to see how Nikon responds.
I have way to many photos backed up, so its time to publish some. These are some pictures from my urban adventures. The Army Base is being leveled and turned into a housing community. The Federal building is undergoing a de-asbestos and update. The General Hospital is undergoing a renovation and conversion into living quarters, probably condos.
Enjoy!

I was reading a blog post from Jeremy Brooks
about a man who threaten legal action because his photo was taken. I have had some issues doing video work a few years back of a lady who said she was in witness protection and that she wanted the tape back.
Its important to know your rights, there is a good article at Photojojo on The Ten Legal Commandments of Photography. Read thought it, and make sure you are abiding by the Law.

Today i updated the gallery to reflect some of hte images that have been posted in thewonderingphotographer.com. I also have cuple hundred photos to add in sets as well as other images that need to be sorted for the photo blog as well as the gallery. On top of all that i have some RAW files to go through and develop that have been sitting in my to do folder for months now.
Lots to come.
I took this photo a few weeks ago and forgot to post it. Aiden had fallen a sleep on his couch pillow while we were watching TV.
I recently opened my PhotoBlog to the public and noticed after i uploaded some 95 images that they were all visible to the public, this was a problem since i wanted to have them display one day after the other.
At the moment pixelpost does not support this feature, although after looking around in the code i can see that it should be coming out very shortly.
For the time being I created a Addon that allows you to select any images you want and then cast them into the future, removing them from the public view as well as the archives or any other pages until the day comes when the dates match up.
Remember to log out of the admin panel otherwise all your images will be visible in the main image page.
I decided to modify my Pixelpost administration page to make it look a little nicer, as well as adding a fixed width, working at 1920×1200 on a site that is 90% the width of a 24″ screen involves a lot of mousing around.
How to install:
locate the Pixepost Admin folder on your webserver.
Rename “admin_index.css” to admin_index.css.original so you wont loose the original CSS file.
Next upload the new “admin_index.css”
