My current favorite album would have to be The Wombats, nothing stunningly original but there music is good, the lyrics are good. it just nice to have something new that is good!
Check them out.
I came across The Briggs by accident on YouTube and did some searching and found that they are not new to the scene but rather have played with the grets like the Dropkick Murphys, Bad Religion and Flogging Molly. They stared touring in 2002 and are based in Los Angeles, California. Made up of brothers Joey and Jason LaRocca and Chris “X” Arredondo. They are not hte typical Brother boy band.

The Briggs - “Charge Into the Sun” Side One Dummy
I some how stumbled accross Apples in Stereo and have since been hooked, i was pleasantly surprised by the whole album. I found some songs to be a little to Flower Power, but on the most part i like the style.
The song that really grabbed me is “Same Old Drag“, i at first thought this was a friends spoof video. after some Googleing i found it to be the actual band.
This first release off Elijah Wood’s record label, that’s rite he has his own label. Since age 13 he has been obsessed with music.
There’s a wealth of amazing bands out there who have nowhere to go. I want to have the chance to release things that might not necessarily get released otherwise.
My taste is pretty eclectic, so my label won’t have a specific sound. Though if Radiohead are ever looking for a deal, I’d sign them any time.
Apples in Stereo is from Denver and has been around for 12 years with eight albums to its name. There style is from the 60s and like i said some of it can be a little Flower Power, but its certainly going to cheer you up.

Last night while listening to the radio in the car this song A-Punk by Vampire Weekend came on and at first thought it might be Tokyo Police CLub then realized that would be silly since it was just on. Then i herd it was something new. Something great.
Vampire Weekend.
A-Punk reminds me of an eclectic mix of music from the 50s and the 60s with a modern twist. Some might say they have some similarities with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Strokes, Clap Your Hands, The National, Interpol, MGMT, Police, and the Beatles.
If your a fan of SNL you probably saw them on there last night, i unfortunately missed it.

Boston Bred Punks Sign With Hellcat Records And Plot Out New Album
New England’s beloved punk rock quintet Street Dogs have signed to Hellcat Records with plans for a spring tour and the release of their fourth studio album this summer.
Known for making uncompromising punk-influenced rock and for their deep connection with their working class roots, Street Dogs deliver passion fueled songs that unite listeners with an enduring sense of camaraderie and justice for all. From politics to social injustice, the blue collar band evokes a range of emotions with their fast-paced, fist pumping street punk anthems that are more relevant in today’s climate of uncertainty than ever before.
Street Dogs formed in 2002 after former Dropkick Murphys frontman/Boston firefighter/Gulf War vet Mike McColgan made his return to music and enlisted Jonny Rioux (bass), Marcus Hollar (guitar), Tobe Bean III (guitar) and most recently the newcomer Paul Rucker (drums). After three critically heralded efforts and years of non-stop touring with bands like Tiger Army, Rancid, Social Distortion and Flogging Molly, Street Dogs are ready to return to the studio.
In February, Street Dogs entered a Los Angeles studio where they will spend the next month with producer Ted Hutt (Bouncing Souls, Flogging Molly), recording their follow-up to 2006’s Fading American Dream. For their latest album, the band plans to pull from a broad spectrum of influences. “I feel like this new release will sound like a battle royal wrestling match, with bands like U2, AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, The Ramones, TV On The Radio, Stiff Little Fingers, Bloc Party, Michael Franti and The Clancy Brothers being the contestants/influences,” says McColgan.“I think fans can expect a release that is powerful, at times mean, and one that shows growth musically as well,” continues McColgan. “We have always said that we work for the freedom to say and play whatever we want, and on this upcoming release that ethos has never been or sounded stronger.”
