At Xylocopa, we know that the key to a successful education is to begin learning at a young age. Like many of you, we are concerned about the state of science education in the public school system, especially in the lower grades. Specifically, we have noticed that there is absolutely no training in the K-6 grades that prepares students to become mad scientists. In this competitive 21st-century world, the need for mad scientists will only increase, but the lack of basic education in primary school leaves us concerned that there will be no future students capable of leading in this illustrious field.

Fortunately, we have a solution – a first step, if you will, along the path to mad science proficiency. We are pleased to announce the release of our Young Mad Scientist’s First Alphabet Blocks. These lovely blocks contain many carefully engraved illustrations of the equipment, training, and activities that a budding mad scientist will require, combined with a clever alphabetic introduction to the concept depicted.

Each block measures 1 3/8 inches square and depicts six mad science concepts and the appropriate letters. The set includes all 26 letters of the alphabet on five blocks (six illustrations per block).

Each side started out as one of our original pen-and-ink drawings that we have carefully laser engraved onto a solid block of American maple wood.
We don’t use any dyes or harmful finishes on the blocks and all of their edges are rounded and smooth.

Britneys Return?

Britney Watching Britney’s much talked about opening show for the MTV Video Awards was like watching the opening episodes of So You Think You Can Dance. Britney looked awkward, slow, and some what confused. I would compare her performance to the feeling of being hungover and trying to pretend you feel great, but all you really want to do is sleep. She came close to falling over, looked like she was out of it, and I’m sure she was lip syncing most of it.

After having a look and the Official MTV Blog and reading a few of the comments about 2650 of them are agreeing with me.

I do however think that the people commenting on her Body should probably consider the fact that calling her fat or out of shape will only give the wrong impression that so many people have tried to instill in people that there is a healthy weight and an unhealthy weight, and the unhealthy weight goes to the heavy and the light side. Keep in mind that Britney’s weight after having two kids seams pretty good to me, dancing not so good though.

Homestar Runner Rejects TV

home Star It wasnt until recently that i started going back to Homestar Runner and watching the Strong Bad E-Mails. When i saw that the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim lineup and Comedy Central. Both networks wanted to to alter there flow and change the way they work and I’m glad that the resisted the temptation.

Its refreshing to see a success stick to there guns and not sell out like every one seams to do these days.

There was a brief flirtation with Comedy Central and Adult Swim,” Matt said. “The whole TV thing seemed creepy. They wanted to plug it into their model — that all comedy was gag-related, not character-driven. They left the door open, but we liked what we were doing and kept doing it online.

Happy Entrails

Happy Entrails This little site is geared towards mountain biking but it is also a tool. It’s a good example on how a cool video can draw attention form people you would not normally get going to your site.

Even if its for pure entertainment.
