Playing for Change

Posted in: Music on December 9th, 2008

Playing For Change A Co-Worker just sent this to me, Playing for Change. The first song “Stand By Me” played by 37 artists recorded outside around the world, the musicians have never met in person the end result is a spectacular composition of originality and comes together in unity. The song brought on emotion and gave me goosebumps.

Music can affect people and has the power to bring people together it can cross boarders and brake down walls.

The film brings together musicians from around the world — blues singers in a waterlogged New Orleans, chamber groups in Moscow, a South African choir — to collaborate on songs familiar and new, in the effort to foster a new, greater understanding of our commonality.

PBS did an interview with the directors Mark Johnson and Jonathan Walls you can read it here and watch the video here.

“The world is changing, and its up to us how it changes”

  1. Beautiful song, Adam. The world could learn a lot from these musicians and the fact that we all need someone to lean on once in a while. :)

My best to everyone out West.

    Cheers,

  2. Its amazing how something so simple can be so powerful.

An image might be worth a thousand words but music can carry the message much farther.
