Adobe Please!

I’m sure a lot of people out there have the same issues with Adobe Dreamweaver that i do. Sine my change in carriers i have been using Dreamweaver daily for hours on end. i have been more and more frustrated with Dreamweavers ham fisted abilities to interact with css. I’m not talking about how it creates it, I’m talking about how it interacts with it and allows you to interact with it.

I’m working on a large web app for the Alberta Government and at the moment the css file is growing and growing. i can shrink it to make file size smaller but during development i need to see comments and have everything laid out clearly so that i and the developers can read it.

My issues are coming from searching around the css file for changes.

There is only so much a good clean naming convention can do to help keep a file orderly. I have even gone as far as creating an index at the top of a file and including sections and sub sections in css comments.

Usually i will separate core classes with something like

/* Framing
———————————- */

/* Framing END
———————————- */

I will even indent the css so that it follows a visual order.

It then came clear to me, why am I doing this? how many other people do this, or don’t bother because they don’t have the time.

I would love to see Dreamweaver take on a comment naming convention that will tag a folder view in the css syles menu. Hek even a search feature would be better than nothing.

I love the functionality that firebug offers to Firefox, but Firefox isn’t an editor!

It would be really nice to have the option when in a css file to mouse over a colour or image and show a pop up view of the image or colour.
