It should only be a mater of time before Adobe announces Dreamweaver 9. But i got to thining what sort of changes can we look forrward to? As far as i can tell there really isn’t any talk or mention of a new version of dream weaver coming out any time soon bit lets not forget Dreamweaver 8 came out in 2005! and the net waits for no one! so something must be done.
I came up with a few that i thought would help:
Offer some sort of scaffolding for mysql!
Maybe offer a delete feature in the file manager! you can hit the delete key and it will work but no right click?
CSS tidy! and even be able to search for a css tag in the viewer! i have a css file with 1131 lines of code! i have to comment the crap out of it to find stuff! i want to type and have it come up.
Do like the open source guys do and have downloadable IDE so people cam plop in a RUBY language or anything else thats not supported.
Thats all i can think of now

So i got to thinking what else are people looking for and i found a lot of really cool ideas. Some I’m sure are going to become features. I found mention of integrated AJAX support with probably there own libraries. As well as blogging templates for Movable Type and WordPress.
Thats about it! let me know what you think should be in the next version of Dreamweaver.

Inside sources say Dreamweaver 9 is coming. There alot of things I would like to see in the new version. Here are just a couple:
-CSS holy grail templates included that are completely integrated with DW’s assets, libraries, etc.
-Separating style and content with CSS needs to be pushed and pushed throughout the web. Dreamweaver need to continue to make the use of CSS easier. Mobile devices and other web appliances will thank it.
-The a major should be to dish out the best code it possibly can with speed, so handcoders eventually feel comfortable enough to move over. I see the handcoding argument, for now. But it has been proven in many studies, when object originated and WYSIWYG is combined in an efficient manner, productivity increases tremendously.
-Needs to be speedier and not such a resource hog, Dreamweaver could be be written a little tighter. I know when you have a billion webmasters wanting everything under the sun, the processes start to add up. I would like to see ultimate control in turning off what you don’t use. This way DW can be closer to everything for everybody, without having to be processing support for something that you never use.
-support for the new languages and scripts like AJAX, .Net x.x, etc.
I’m waiting to do a complete redo of infohip.com until, Dreamweaver 9 releases. Smart? Probably not, but I would rather start from the ground up with a program that could support more of a holy grail approach, so I don’t have to CSS hand-code so much.
Just my two cents for now…

I agree with the CSS in Dreamweaver, i find my self typing and cutting and pasting faster than it can handle, and i hate the edit CSS thing in the side bar!
Do you have any idea when it is scheduled to come out?

I can only hint at a Spring 2007 “sometime” date. I can’t say much else, by sources would skin me.
But to everybody including myself who wants it now, we have to remember the product is now being handled by a different and larger animal. Adobe is now a product bundling machine.
One hitch in the plan for the Creative Suite could end up in delays.
There are just so many advantages for software makers to push the bundle, so we’ll just have to wait.
I can tell you to keep your ears peeled at the end of March. You’ll hear more about the features of the new Suite. I haven’t checked at the official Adobe PR site in a while, but I’m sure they’ll announce that if they haven’t already.

Hello.
I’d mainly like to see some new features in how text can interact with objects and some interface improvements along with speed improvements in both the program (mainly) and some code.
So spring 2007 right?
Thank you.
